Featured Service - Health Surveillance

At RSOH we recognise the importance of health surveillance programmes as a mechanism for identifying the adverse health effects that could arise from exposure to workplace hazards, especially in the Oil and Gas industry. We also acknowledge the value of health surveillance programmes in detecting failure of safety control measures to allow early intervention. This degree of understanding and our collective expertise in this field puts us in a privileged position in advising employers in fulfilling their legal obligations as per health and safety legislation. Thereby helping our customers to discharge their overall duty of care. Our health surveillance provision is of high quality, we are dependable, flexible and we have the capacity to act speedily.

We have the expertise to advise on health surveillance programmes for all hazard categories ranging from physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychological hazards. For example under the physical agents directives, we have a robust methodology for assessing hearing capacity to link in with an employers hearing conservation programme under the auspices of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations. We send out grouped anonymised data to assist this process. Our doctors and nurses are accredited to carry out Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) assessments. Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, we are equipped to guide employers with regard to setting up appropriate respiratory and skin surveillance as well as biological or biological effect monitoring for substances that could be absorbed through several routes, e.g. solvents like benzene and tetrachloroethylene, etc. We have the expertise to assist with Display Screen Equipment assessments and we have helped our purchasers to explore the impact of psychological hazards on their business using stress as a specific example.
