Night Worker Medicals

As part of the working time regulations (1998), employees working regularly at night must be offered a night workers medical assessment at regular intervals to determine whether that individual id fit for night shift.

While workplace hazards are unlikely to change with night work, risks arising from them might nonetheless be greater at night, particularly where individuals are suffering from, or susceptible to, certain medical conditions.

This assessment can be completed via a paper screen initially and where answers, identify any concerns, a face to face or telephone conversation will be required to obtain further information by an occupational health nurse or physician.
