Under Motor Vehicle (Driving Licence) Regulations 1996 employees are required to undergo an occupational health assessment in order to operate a Large Good Vehicle. This will ensure that the employee is fit to undertake driving duties without complications.
The Medical takes around an hour to complete including completing a questionnaire followed by an eye test, blood pressure measurement, urine test and a full physical examination of heart, lungs, circulation, nervous system, musculoskeletal system and abdomen.
After the Medical has taken place, a D4 form is completed ready to return to the DVLA. The patient will be informed of any abnormal findings which could affect the issue or renewal of the license.
