It is good practice for forklift drivers to have medical assessments on a regular basis to ensure that they are fit for the work they do. RS Occupational Health can come to your site to complete forklift driver medicals to the standards laid down by the HSE “Safety in Working with Lift Trucks” guidance (HSG6). RS Occupational Health recommends completing a forklift driver medical at the beginning of employment, once at the age of 40 and every 5 years after. Anybody over the age of 65 is advised to complete on an annual basis. In addition, after any significant injury or illness that is likely to affect their fitness to operate.
